Chicago TNC 2024: The 1st Chicago demonstration prior to TNC at the United Center, March for Bodies Outside Unjust Laws takes place in the Loop.
Chicago (WLS) — Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are expected to arrive in Chicago on Sunday for the Democratic National Convention.

The first of two permitted demonstrations will take place in the Loop on Sunday afternoon.
The sanctioned protest will take protesters from Michigan to Grant Park to the Logan statue on East 9th Street. The demonstration will be about 1.5 miles from their starting point.

The protest is called the March for Bodies Outside Unjust Laws.
Demonstrators said they were protesting the Democratic Party's failure to live up to its rhetoric in support of reproductive and LGBTQ rights.
We are going to do this safely and orderly wherever there are peaceful protests, and we welcome them.
They plan to rally with those calling for an end to the conflict in Gaza.
The protest will begin near Michigan and Walker and begin Monday at 5 p.m.
« We very much welcome people to express their right to free speech, and indeed, there will be an area where protesters can express themselves, » said Senator Tommy Duckworth. « We even built a parade route, a parade route, so people can actually protest if that's what they want to do.

The next sanctioned protest is scheduled for Monday near the United Center. Protesters will march from Union Park to Park 578, a couple of blocks north of the United Center.
Organizers said they were allowed to set up a stage and sound system in Park 578, which is between the sights and sounds of thousands of attendees at the United Center.

The 2024 Democratic Convention takes place in Chicago from Monday August 19th to Thursday August 22nd at the United Center and McCormick Place.
