The Green Bay Packers Officially in love.

Coming off an impressive 2023 campaign, Jordan Love, who debuted as the Pack's starting quarterback, is now tied for the title of the NFL's highest-paid player, with a four-year, $220 million extension with $155 million guaranteed on Friday, according to a person familiar with the deal. Tom Silverstein of Bakers News and USA TODAY Network. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to disclose the financial terms of the deal.

ESPN was the first to break the news.

Love turns into an eighth quarterback with an average contract of $50 million annually, taking over as the top earner. Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow and Jacksonville JaguarsTrevor Lawrence, who averages $55 million.

Before last season, Love signed a one-year, $13.5 million extension. Agreement.

Love was a controversial first-round pick out of Utah State in 2020 when Green Bay's front office drew the ire of current QB1 Aaron Rodgers — sparking a mini-resurgence for him and two more league MVP awards. But Love proved beyond doubt last season that he was a worthy replacement for the since-traded Rodgers, while extending the Packers' nearly unparalleled pedigree at the position, which includes Hall of Famers Arnie Herber, Bart Starr and Brett. Favre.

Love's 32 touchdown passes in 2023 trailed only MVP runner-up Dak Prescott (36). More importantly, Love was in control of the Packers' second-half surge after a 3-6 start. They won seven of their last 10 games, including the playoffs, embarrassed Prescott's Dallas Cowboys on the road in the wild-card round, and lost to the San Francisco 49ers the following week.

Starr, Favre and Rodgers failed to lead the Packers in their first years in the postseason in the inaugural season. Although each of them eventually led Green Bay to Super Bowl victories, Starr won five rings (three of them for the NFL championship before the Super Bowl era began in 1966). Given last season's performance and his newfound financial status, expectations will certainly be high for Love and Co. going forward.
